Tangney Tours has an excellent reputation when it comes to organising group pilgrimages and trips. We will take groups ranging in size from fifteen people to well over a thousand.

If you want to talk about us about your group or how easy it can be for you to lead one, please contact us and we will be happy to tailor any tour, not just the ones listed on our website or in our brochure.

Below are some examples of our places that we offer.

Syria:

There are few countries that can compete with Syria for its depth of history as well as the rich archaeological and architectural remains that reveal this immense antiquity. It is mentioned many times in the bible and Damascus itself is quoted 67 times. In the New Testament Damascus was the place of Paul’s conversion. Christianity is very much a part of life in Syria with over 1 million Christians today. This trip is one of biblical history and one that we recommend highly.

Jordan:

The area of the Holy Land on the eastern side of the river Jordan. The country is steeped in spiritual and historical heritage. In the land of Jordan it is said God frequently appeared and encountered humankind in the form of a whirlwind, a cloud of light or dust, an angel or a voice speaking with the prophets. Today pilgrims travel to Jordan to visit the religious and historical sights and to once again bring the bible alive.

Knock:

The Shrine is a major Catholic pilgrimage site in County Mayo, Ireland where it is claimed there was an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St Joseph, St John the Evangelist and Jesus Christ (as the Lamb of God) in 1879. You can also visit the surrounding towns, such as Westport, Ballintubber Abbey and if you are brave enough, take the opportunity to climb Croagh Patrick.

Lithuania:

The Catholic country of Lithuania is still largely undiscovered by western visitors. We will be offering you the opportunity to explore the UNESCO world heritage site of Vilnius which has also won the prestigious Capital of Culture award for 2010. Steeped in Catholic history, Vilnius houses over 40 churches which mainly date from the 17th and 18th Century whilst the cathedral holds one of the six copies of the Shroud of Turin in the world. It was also the home of Sister Faustina who was beatified in the city by Pope John Paul II in 1993.

Malta:

Rich in historical, archaeological and religious treasures, the tiny island is one of the oldest Christian communities in the world with 98 per cent of its citizen’s members of the Catholic Church. Today you can visit the shipwreck cathedral which is the spot where Paul’s ship ran aground nearly 2000 years ago.

World Youth Day:

Tangney Tours is pleased to be associated with the majority of Archdiocesan and Diocesan youth offices in assisting them in planning their pilgrimage for World Youth Day. Every 3 years, the Pope invites the youth of the world to join him in pilgrimage to his chosen city. In 2008 this was Sydney Australia and in 2011 it will be in Madrid.
