Lourdes Theme for 2022 - “Go and tell the priests …”

Dear Pilgrim,

On behalf of the organising committee for the Diocese of Leeds Pilgrimage to Lourdes, I would like to invite you to come on pilgrimage with us in July 2022. Our pilgrimage to Lourdes is one of the main annual events for our diocese.

Next year will mark our return after a two-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I expect that you, like me, are eager to return, or perhaps you are looking forward to visiting Lourdes for first time.
In Lourdes, we come together as a family of brothers and sisters in Christ to pray in that special place with Our

Blessed Lady and St Bernadette. During our pilgrimage in 2022, we will pray especially for all those who have died during the pandemic and for the families and friends who mourn for them.

I look forward to welcoming you all at the opening Mass.

With every blessing
+ Marcus Stock
Bishop of Leeds

For 2022, we will be travelling from Leeds Bradford International Airport and we will be using our traditional hotels. In accordance with travel regulations, as well as the requirements of Tangney Tours and the Pilgrimage Committee, it is a requirement that pilgrims who wish to travel must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Itinerary - to be confirmed

We will celebrate our Opening Mass in the St Bernadette Centre on the morning of our first full day in Lourdes. In the afternoon we will participate in the stations of the cross.

Sunday to Tuesday

On the Sunday morning, we will celebrate Mass as a pilgrimage together at the international mass in the underground Basilica. In the afternoon we will have our Blessed Sacrament procession.

Each evening, pilgrims can enjoy the torchlight procession.

On the Monday Mass will be said in the Rosary Basilica, one of the most beautiful places in Lourdes. There will be free time in the afternoon for personal devotions. Again, in the evening, pilgrims can enjoy the torchlight procession.

Tuesday morning we will celebrate Mass in the St Bernadette centre opposite the Grotto and in the afternoon we will have our penitential service.

Wednesday to Thursday

In the morning, we will celebrate, with our entire group, Mass at the Grotto. In the afternoon, there will be free time for devotions. In the evening, the pilgrimage will be leading the torchlight procession.

On the Thursday, we will have our closing Mass to celebrate the end of our Pilgrimage. This will take place in the Underground Basilica.

The details and venues are subject to change and a more detailed program will be given you each day in your hotel in Lourdes.
