Join our coach tour from Cardiff to Oberammergau - Led by Fr Gareth Leyshon
Departing from Cardiff, the coach will have overnight stops in Ghent and Verviers on the outbound journey, and Cologne and Amsterdam on the inbound journey. Whilst in all destinations there will be a full programme each day.
Package price includes 6 nights half-board accommodation, sharing an en-suite room, all coaching from beginning to end, 2 nights' category C accommodation in Oberammergau local area, Category 3 Passion play ticket plus a light lunch and a 3 course dinner. The Spiritual Director will be on hand to assist during all of the tour.
Itinerary - to be confirmed
Day 1-2
Wednesday, 14th September.
To begin the tour there will be a morning Mass and afterwards the coach will depart for Folkstone and a crossing to France, via the Channel Tunnel.
You will arrive in Ghent, Belgium for 1 night's accommodation.
Thursday, 15th September.
After breakfast there will be a Mass at a local church in Ghent, following which there will be free time to explore the city. In the afternoon there will be a visit to the war graves at Ypres and Flanders Field. Dinner will be followed by attendance at the 8 o'clock playing of the 'Last Post'.
The Coach will then depart for Namur and check-in to the hotel for 1 night bed and breakfast and 1 night half-board accommodation.
Day 3-4
Friday, 16th September.
After breakfast the coach departs for a visit to Beauraing where there will be Mass. In the afternoon there will be visit to Banneux, including Marian devotions. Late afternoon the coach departs for the hotel.
Saturday, 17th September.
After breakfast there will be morning Mass in a local church in Namur. Following Mass the coach departs for Oberammergau and check-in to hotel for 2 nights
half-board accommodation.
Day 5-6
Sunday, 18th September.
After breakfast there will be Mass in the local church, following which there will be some free time for a leisurely stroll around the picturesque village or for a visit to local sights, such as the museum or the Pilatus House.
In the afternoon you will have a light lunch, in a local restaurant, and then take your seat in the theatre for part 1 of the play. During the interval a 3 course meal has been booked in a local restaurant. Following your meal you will then take your seat in the theatre, from 19.30, for part 2 of the play.
After the end, at approximately 22.30, you will transfer back to your hotel.
Monday, 19th September.
After breakfast there will be Mass in the local church, following which the coach departs for Cologne. Check-in to hotel for 1 night half-board accommodation.
Day 6-8
Tuesday, 20th September.
After breakfast there will be Mass in Cologne Cathedral, following which there will be free time to explore the city. The coach will depart for Amsterdam in the afternoon. Check-in to the hotel for 2 nights half-board accommodation. .
Wednesday, 21st September.
After breakfast there will be a visit to:
- Museum Ons' Lieve Heer Op Solder ( "Our Lady in the Attic").
- Shrine of Our Lady of All Nations
- The house of Anne Frank, with Mass in the attic, if possible.
Alternatively Mass will be at the Shrine of Our Lady, followed by group devotions.
Thursday, 22nd September.
After breakfast the coach will depart for the journey back to the UK, via the Channel Tunnel.
There will be Mass at the Shrine of St. Jude in Faversham, Kent, following which the coach will then proceed to Cardiff.
