Saint Therese like her older sisters, she became devoted to religion from an early age. She joined the Carmelite nunnery in Lisieux at the young age of 15. She devoted her life to religion, produced many spiritual writings and became one of the best-loved Catholic figures of her century. She died young but in the 1920s, she was made a saint. In 1997, Pope John Paul II declared her the 33rd Doctor of the Catholic Church because of her spiritual writings. This is an exceptional honour, as she was the first woman to receive this title.
Friday 7th of August - The coach will depart from Westminster Cathedral before making its way to the ferry terminal for the crossing to Calais. On arrival to Calais the coach will continue to Lisieux. Arrive at the hotel Ermitage for three nights accommodation on a half board basis.
In Lisieux follow the Spiritual programme based on the teachings of St. Therese and her Little Way of Spiritual Childhood. Saint Therese was born in Alencon in January 1873. The family moved to Lisieux where she spent her time meditating and praying. At the age of 15 she joined the Carmelites at Lisieux. Saint Therese died of tubercolosis at the age of 24. In 1899 France discovered her autobiography .Visits will include Les Buissonetts and the Carmel Chapel, Excursions will include a visit to the birthplace of St Therese in Alencon.
Monday 10th of August - After Mass and breakfast depart Lisieux for return journey.
